Our History - Nuestra Historia
Nuestra Alianza de Willits (NAW) is a grassroots nonprofit organization with sixteen members on the board of directors; it serves the Latino population in and around Willits, CA as well as any other community members who care to join in our activities.
NAW was conceived during a Mendocino College English as a second language class in the year 2000 when the students thought wistfully about various programs and services they wished were available in the community. That night the teacher and students decided to form an organization to provide those services themselves; nobody else was going to do it.
Nuestra Alianza de Willits (NAW) es una organización de base sin fines de lucro con dieciséis miembros en la junta directiva; atiende a la población latina en y alrededor de Willits, California, así como a cualquier otro miembro de la comunidad que se preocupe por participar en nuestras actividades.
NAW se concibió durante una clase de inglés como segundo idioma en el Mendocino College en el año 2000 cuando los estudiantes pensaron con nostalgia acerca de varios programas y servicios que deseaban que estuvieran disponibles en la comunidad. Esa noche, el profesor y los estudiantes decidieron formar una organización para proporcionar esos servicios ellos mismos; nadie más lo iba a hacer.
Our Mission - Nuestra Misión
Our mission is to serve the community, making a better, safer and healthier place to live. We are Devoted to the well-being of the children in the community, to keep them safe, free of drugs, free of gang influences, and to assist them in attaining academic success. We are also committed to training our largely immigrant board of directors to have skills that will serve them well in their new home, the USA.
Nuestra mision es server a la comunidad, haciendo un lugar mejor, Seguro y saludable para vivir. Nosotros estamos dedicados al bienestar de los ninos en la comunidad, para mantenerlos seguros, libres de drugas, libres de influencias de gangas, y ayudarlos a alcanzar un exito academico. Nosotros estamos tambien comprometidos a entrenar a nuestro gran grupo de miembros imigrantes de la mesa directiva para tener habilidades que les serviran en su nuevo hogar, los Estados Unidos
