¿Qué es "Conozca Sus Derechos" (KYR)?
"Conozca Sus Derechos" es un programa diseñado para educar a las personas sobre sus protecciones legales, independientemente de su estatus migratorio. Cubre situaciones como:
- Encuentros con ICE (Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas)
- Paradas y registros policiales
- Derechos en el lugar de trabajo
- Visitas domiciliarias por parte de autoridades
Derechos Clave a Recordar:
- Permanecer en Silencio: Tiene derecho a permanecer en silencio y no responder preguntas de las autoridades. Puede decir :"Estoy ejerciendo mi derecho a permanecer en silencio". Evite compartir información sobre su lugar de nacimiento o como ingreso a los Estados Unidos
- No Abra la Puerta: Las autoridades deben tener una orden firmada para ingresar a su hogar. Ice no puede entrar a su hogar sin una orden firmada por un juez. Pida al agente que muestre la orden a través de una ventana o que la deslice por por debajo de la puerta. Asegúrese de que la orden incluya su nombre y dirección correctos. No abra la puerta. Si lo hace, sera mucho mas difícil negarse a responder preguntas.
- No Firme Documentos: Evite firmar documentos sin consultar a un abogado. ICE puede intentar presionarlo para que firme papeles que renuncien a sus derechos o acepten la deportación. Asegúrese de entender cualquier documento antes de firmarlo.

What is "Know Your Rights" (KYR)?
"Know Your Rights" is a program designed to educate individuals about their legal protections, regardless of immigration status. It covers scenarios such as:
- Encounters with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)
- Police stops and searches
- Workplace rights
- Home visits by authorities
Key Rights to Remember:
- Remain Silent: You have the right to remain silent and not answer questions from law enforcement or immigration officers. You can state, "I am exercising my right to remain silent." Avoid sharing any information about your place of birth or how you entered the U.S.
- Do Not Open the Door: Authorities must have a signed warrant to enter your home. Ask the agent to show the warrant through a window or slide it under the door. Ensure the warrant includes your correct name and address. Do not open your door. Once you do, it becomes much harder to refuse answering questions.
- Do Not Sign Documents: Avoid signing any documents without consulting an attorney. ICE or law enforcement may try to pressure you into signing papers that waive your rights or agree to deportation. Make sure you understand any document before signing it.
